Can you really get vegan options everywhere?
If you think that vegan options are only available in central London...what can I say? Actually...I won't say anything to reply to that directly, but keep reading and the answer to whether it's fact or fiction will become obvious.

Do mainstream restaurants cater for vegans or do vegans need to go to special places when they want to eat out?
I used to think that mainstream places wouldn't cater for vegans and that I'd have to go to a vegetarian place, because they'd be more likely to have vegan options or they'd find it easy to veganise what they have on the menu.
I was so wrong!

A number of months ago, I met someone who is known as Olive on Twitter. She is assertive, kind, compassionate and honest. She also loves cooking and isn't scared to try out new recipes using uncommon ingredients.
Olive follows a vegan lifestyle and likes to give restaurants and pubs the opportunity to blossom, while they concoct vegan dishes for her and her hubby (Popeye) to enjoy. It is this last point, which made me reach out to her.
Olive and Popeye have been eating out in Manchester a fair bit, and I wanted to share their experiences with you.

What's so good about visiting Brighton
I've been to Brighton a few times now and I see it as a vegan paradise! Why? The cafés and restaurants are simply amazing. The staff understand what vegans will and won't eat and there's a variety of vegan snacks, meals and desserts on the menu. Here's some of the other things I liked about Brighton:-
- walks along the coast are beautiful
- it's easily accessibly by train and car
- the area is full of people from all walks of life
- there are lots of boutiques selling funky things

Meeting up for a drink after yoga
I had gone to my weekly yoga class and was ready to go home when I got a call from my hubby, Suraj. He said he was in Pinner and wanted us to meet there before going home. He had finished work late and wanted to grab a bite to eat. I told him I wasn't hungry but was happy to join him for a drink and keep him company.
I was surprised by what Carluccio's had on the menu for vegans and that soon made me change my mind about what I was going to order!

Grabbing a bite and a movie in Uxbridge
Suraj (my hubby) and I went out to watch a movie one night. We decided to have a stroll and see which restaurants were nearby, so we could decide where to have our dinner, when we saw Chiquito. This was a bit of a shock because it wasn't there before! It was the night before they were due to open, so we thought we'd go in and see what their vegan options were.

Do you go out and ever feel the need to grab a bite to eat?
What do you do when you decide you fancy eating something but you're too far from home to go back, or you haven't finished what you're doing, so you can't go home yet?
Would you make do with a bag of crisps or some other type of snack? Would you ignore your hunger and keep going? Do you keep a snack with you and eat that? Do you get into a bit of a state and need to find somewhere that you can eat something substantial?
Do you end up eating things that won't agree with you, because you're intolerant to them? Might you eat something that goes against your ethics, because you think you won't find anything vegan?

I have often heard people say that eating vegan must be really restrictive and eating out would be even more horrendous.
For those of you who have been reading my reviews, you'll see that eating out is far from restrictive or difficult. In fact, I'm often surprised with the range of items on the menu that aren't marked vegan but are "vegan by accident." This combined, with the willingness and enthusiasm of the staff to amend dishes and get creative, makes eating out a pleasure! I get even more excited when I go somewhere and the food is extraordinary...

We were in Brighton for the weekend and the lovely hubby, Suraj, did a bit of research on vegan food, which is 'outside the norm.' (We wanted to try something 'different') He came across the Gourmet Girls and we had the opportunity to eat vegan 'Fish n Chips'
one of us had eaten a vegan version of Fish n Chips, so we booked a table and hoped for the best.

What to do when you're out and and about the need to eat arises?
A group of us had met up and gone to La Suite West for afternoon tea. It lasted a while because we used it as an opportunity to eat and drink slowly, whilst having a catch up.
After that, a few of us went for a walk and we realised that if we went home, it would be too late to cook and eat, but it was a little to soon to eat. So we decided to go for a coffee and then find somewhere to eat after that.
Read on to find out if we found anywhere that offered vegan options.
