Find out why Chai Naasto in Harrow stands out from their other branches!
Here's why Chai Naasto in Harrow stands out from the others!
Chai Naasto have a branch in Beckenham and Hammersmith. What's different about the one they've just opened in Harrow, is that it's a pure vegetarian restaurant! The menu is egg-free, meat-free, they can make dishes without onion and garlic, and they have lots of vegan options too. They have also made it super easy to order, by marking available 'options' clearly on the menu.
They had to turn people away, because they were so busy!
What a hit! Chai Naasto (Harrow) opened on 31st July and within hours of opening, tables were booked, people were queuing to find out if they could be seated, and many were being turned away!
This is what the restaurant looks like - bright, informal, cosy and colourful.
The menu
At Chai Naasto, they make and serve popular Indian street food. The food is fresh, tasty, and served in a simple, yet funky way. They also have a few of their own creations, such as, the Brownie Chaat! This dessert is a spiced orange brownie, which is served with ice-cream, salted caramel. and toasted nuts. It's definitely worth having!
The staff
The staff were rushed off their feet, but that didn't stop them from smiling, or wanting to provide good customer service. It was very inspiring to see! I got the impression that they had clear roles, but they chipped in whenever they needed to, regardless of the task. It was really good to see how they supported each other.
The food
The food came as it was made and ready to serve. The pace was quick, but it wasn't so quick that our food got cold or our table was cluttered. The Bhajia were crisp, and not oily. The Mogo was soft and full of flavour. The contents of the Pani Puri came in different shot glasses so you could make it according to your preference. It was a great meal!
Why are we going to return to Chai Naasto?
My Mum doesn't eat onions, garlic or potato, and she only eats in pure vegetarian restaurants. Thus, Chai Naasto will suit her perfectly. My Father-in-law likes trying out new places, and he also likes Indian street food. So, we're planning on booking a table for four so we can all go out for dinner.
What happened when we returned to Chai Naasto with my mum and my father-in-law [added on 16th August 2017]
We ordered three vegan starters that didn't have any potatoes, onions or garlic, and they were delicious! This was followed by two mains, of which both were vegan, and one of them had no onions or garlic. Again, both of them tasted fab, regardless of the variation between them! We finished our meal with the Brownie, and that went down a treat with everyone. Both Mum and Dad loved the food, and the service. Again, the staff were friendly, honest, generous, and simply bent over backwards to make sure we had a lovely meal there.
