The vegan Christmas party menu at Cafe Rouge: yum!!!!
The Christmas Party Menu
I saw the Christmas Party Menu and couldn’t wait to try it. The food looked awesome, it was different from anything I’d seen at Cafe Rouge before and it didn’t feel like a rip-off. I booked the 2-course menu, opting out of dessert. I did this because within a minute we could walk to Pizza Express, Zizzi or Ahimsa The Vegan Cafe, and I figured it would be nice to have a choice of where we ordered dessert from.
Booking your meal
There were a few hiccups when I booked. I’m hoping that the tips below will help you avoid the faff that I experienced.
in order to enjoy this meal, you’ll need to book online
if you don’t get an email to confirm your booking, flag it with the branch you made the booking at
if you haven’t been prompted to pay a deposit, your booking isn’t fixed
when you get your email confirmation, there’ll be a link to pre-order your meals
if the link is absent or doesn’t work, call the branch
if you don’t pre-order your courses, you may not get the options you want
when the food arrives, if you ordered a vegan option i.e. the dish would need amending to make it a vegan option, check that the chef has done just that. For example, the Sourdough Tartine shouldn’t be served with goat’s cheese
The meal
We ordered the following:-
Festive Seasonal Soup: roast parsnip soup with chestnuts and a drizzle of truffle oil, served with rye & caraway bread
Sourdough Tartine: butternut squash, sundried tomatoes, roasted red pepper tapenade and pumpkin seeds
Vegan Wellington: butternut squash, sage & caramelised onion wrapped in flaky pastry, served with seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes and vegan gravy
Seasonal Risotto: creamy pumpkin & butternut squash risotto with baby spinach and pumpkin seeds
My absolute favourite was the Vegan Wellington.
Returning to Cafe Rouge
I can’t wait to have the Afternoon Tea, which they’re introducing for Veganuary.
